Trend Higher for the Nasdaq will it Hold?

The trend higher for the Nasdaq-100 remains intact from a technical standpoint. The Tech Traders Founder Chris Vermeulen joins Jill Malandrino on Nasdaq to talk about if the trend will hold or reverse.

As a technical analyst and trader since 1997, I have been through a few bull/bear market cycles in stocks and commodities. I believe I have a good pulse on the market and timing key turning points for investing and short-term swing traders. 2020 is an incredible year for traders and investors.  Don’t miss all the incredible trends and trade setups.

Subscribers of my Active ETF Swing Trading Newsletter had our trading accounts close at a new high watermark. We not only exited the equities market as it started to roll over in February, but we profited from the sell-off in a very controlled way with TLT bonds for a 20% gain. This week we closed out SPY ETF trade taking advantage of this bounce and entered a new trade with our account is at another all-time high value.

Ride my coattails as I navigate these financial markets and build wealth while others watch most of their retirement funds drop another 35-65% during the rest of this financial crisis going into late 2020 and early 2021.

Just think of this for a minute. While most of us have active trading accounts, what is even more important are our long-term investment and retirement accounts. Why? Because they are, in most cases, our largest store of wealth other than our homes, and if they are not protected during the next bear market, you could lose 25-50% or more of your net worth. The good news is we can preserve and even grow our long term capital when things get ugly like they are now and ill show you how. One of the best trades is one your financial advisor will never let you do because they do not make money from the trade/position but we do have a way for you or your advisor can take advantage of the market gyrations with our Technical Wealth Advisor investing signals.

If you have any type of retirement account and are looking for signals when to own equities, bonds, or cash, be sure to become a member of my Passive Long-Term ETF Investing Signals which we issued a new signal for subscribers.

Finding the Great Opportunities in Tumultuous Markets

WATCH VIDEO BELOW

Chris discusses his unique trading methodology, which focuses primarily on price and not fundamentals. After studying the markets extensively, he found what works best for him is a very systematic logical process that ignores the news. Today he builds trading systems that follow this methodology.

Their long-term supercycle statistical analysis was indicating a severe downturn in the market in Q1 2020. Several cycles were coming together, along with various market sentiment indicators. Their software compares historical trends to the present, which can reveal the direction of the market.

They focus on utilities, commodities, and study where big money is flowing. This year they were able to completely side-step this market crash. Chris says, “Building out these systems makes life so much easier. It’s like the dashboard of an aircraft you can see all the gauges that tell you what is going on.”

Equities are in a dead-cat bounce, and there is further downside. He feels the stock market has the potential to go another 20% to 30% lower than the recent March lows. There are many opportunities in this market, but it’s not good for people as there will be blood in the streets.

If we get mass panic selling again, people will liquidate everything once more, clobbering everything again. Be careful trying to pick a bottom in a dead market. He recommends, “Leave silver and miners until they begin to break-out… They are not there yet.”

He expects there will be opportunities in oil long-term but cautions that waiting on the news can be tricky. Oil is still in a downtrend and may not have reached the bottom yet.

Talking Points From This Week’s Episode
• Trading methodologies and focusing on price.
• Supercycles and predicting downtrends.
• Bond performance in bear markets.
• Why equities have further to drop.
• Long-term opportunities with oil.

Market Wrap Technical Take with Moe & Chris – Audio

Yesterday I had a great call with Moe Ansari, who has over 40 years of experience trading and investing. We talked about the market and some technical analysis as to what we think about everything happening right now.

Moe and I share a comment thought which is:

IT IS NOT WHAT YOU MAKE, IT IS
WHAT YOU KEEP THAT COUNTS.

I have been pounding on the table for weeks since we closed out last trade in TLT for 20.07% profit on Feb 23rd, that cash is king, and it is more important to avoid uncertainty than it is to try and trade the random and volatile price action.

Subscribers of my ETF trading newsletter love the fact that our trading portfolio is at a NEW HIGH WATERMARK, and we completely sidestepped this market correction, which turned into a full out market crash.

I won’t lie. I knew a market correction was starting, which is why I adjusted our trailing stops to protect us if things began to turn south. But I did not expect a market collapse that would start a new bear market.

The good news is that because I strictly use technical analysis, position-sizing, and management of positions for profit-taking and trailing stops. We will never be caught on the wrong side of the market for more than a few days. So when a market collapse happens like what we are experiencing now, it does not affect our financial outlook.

As a technical analysis and trader since 1997, I have been through a few bull/bear market cycles. I believe I have a good pulse on the market and timing key turning points for short-term swing traders.

When To Get Aggressive With Your Portfolio And Gold Vs Gold Stocks

Chris Vermeulen, Founder of The Technical Traders joins Cory Fleck of Korelin Economics Report to discuss general strategies and market outlook for US stocks and precious metals. He argues that now is still the time to have a cash-heavy strategy.

As for Gold and gold stocks they are still in very different patterns. Gold continues to show strength and the stocks are doing well but still have yet to break out to get him excited.

Market Volatility, Safe Havens, Gold, Crude Oil

Have we seen this pattern before?

Be prepared for some really ugly earnings data in Q2 and Q3 of this year, then we’ll figure out if our expectations were accurate or not and what we should be doing to plan going forward.

The type of market condition I think we have entered could be here for a long time, and it’s going to be a traders’ market, which means you must have a trading strategy, plan your trades, and trade your plan. It’s amazing how simple a few trading rules that are written down on paper can save you thousands of dollars a week or month from locking in gains or cutting losses.

I have this mini trading strategy mastery course if you want to take control of your trades and override your emotional issues. And also if you want to start making money from home which is the only option going forward the next 3-6 months from the looks of it my trading as a business program is something to think about doing.

– If you hold winners until they turn into losers

– Taking too large of a position and get stuck with a drawdown so large that if you close the position you will lose 10-50% of your trading account

– have masted the art of buying high and selling low repeatedly?

All these things happen to most traders, and they can easily be overcome with a logical game plan I cover in the crash courses, pun intended 🙂

In short, if you have lost money with your trading account this year giving back years of gains, I think it’s worth joining my trading newsletter so you can stay on top of the markets and if you really want to excel take my mini-courses. I take the loud, emotional, and complex markets and deliver simple common sense commentary and a couple of winning trades each month for you to follow.

My trading is nothing extreme or crazy exciting because I’m not an adrenaline trading junky. I only want to grow my entire portfolio 2-4% a month with a couple of conservative ETF trades. Earning 22% – 48% return on my capital every year without the stress of being caught up in this type of market, and knowing I have a proven bear market trading strategy incase this market continues to fall is a comforting thought.

As a technical analysis and trader since 1997, I have been through a few bull/bear market cycles. I believe I have a good pulse on the market and timing key turning points for short-term swing traders.
